Introducing DC Photography
We are delighted to have launched DC Photography (click on the gold and white square DCP logo at the top right of any page on the website). DCP is a collaboration between the Decorative Collective and Dealer, turned Curator, Danny Mankowitz. Danny has dealt in antiques for many years and is a respected advisor to interior designers and private clients. He has always been interested in photography and his brother is the celebrated photographer Gered Mankowitz.
We are thrilled to be working with Danny and his select group of talented international and emerging photographers. Each has opened up their archives of coloured and black and white original photos, some offered here for the first time and others unique to the DCP. Each photo will be offered as a limited edition, signed and numbered pigment print, most in A2 and A3 sizes. Danny can help clients select groups of photos that would compliment each other to create an exciting and unique wall display.
Below we introduce you to our first photographer John Bulmer. John was a pioneer of colour photography in the early 1960's, working for the Sunday Times Magazine from the very first ground breaking issue till the 1970's. He shared the first cover picture with David Bailey.
He was previously known for his extraordinary gritty black and white photography of northern working class culture featured in many magazines at the time. His first assignment was for Town magazine in 1960, showing the lives of the people of the Lancashire town of Nelson ...amazing images, some of which we are showcasing here.
In the 1970's John moved on to making biographical and travel documentary's for the BBC, National Geographic and the Discovery Channel.
He has won numerous awards, featured in many exhibitions, published several books and has had his work shown at the New York Museum of Modern Art, and the Photographers' Gallery in London.
This first collection is a cross section of some different genres, giving us a taste of his broad and eclectic archive. To view all of John's available photos, please click here.
