Item Description
Very decorative and fine example of a French 'fil de fer' art-populaire candleabra.
This lovely folk art candlestick has four candle holders and dates to the first half of the 20th century.
The art of fil-de-fer dates back to the 18th century, when craftsmen discovered the interesting properties of iron wire and developed a simple technique of twisting, binding and interlacing metal wires by hand without resorting to welding.
