Item Details
Hand made glazed China Swan created to hold Eggs in a 'Cremerie' (Dairy Shop) in southern France, which is where I found it. Dating between 1870-1910, the beautiful swan is signed by the maker, Jerome Massier Fils on the underneath- see photos. The Massier company of Vallauris were famous for their majolica pottery in the mid-19th century. Vallauris is a pottery-making town on the 'Cote D'Azur' in Southeastern France also famous because Picasso lived and painted there. Measuring 19 inches tall x 13 wide x 15 in length. In good condition.
