Early 19thC Oil Portrait of Breton Woman

AEOLOGY at RELIC ANTIQUES
Interesting Painting in Oil from the beginning of the 19th Century of a French Woman of character - dressed in Breton costume with white roses set among the lace. She holds a book in her right hand with rings on three fingers.

The portrait on canvas measures 27 inches tall x 21 wide. and is unsigned but with some ancient lettering on paper on the reverse of the canvas. (see photo)- The decipherable lettering 'Ste.James' possibly referring to the town 'Saint-James' on the Normandy-Brittany border. Dating circa 1810-1850, In reasonably good condition with wear to the wooden stretcher and other imperfections.
