Pair of 19thC ' Tramp Art' Mirrors from Alsace..

Decorative pair of 'Tramp Art' Framed Mirrors which come from Alsace in Eastern France. According to local traditions of the Alsatian region, the frames are made from small and intricately carved pieces of wood which are applied on to a wooden backing frame. Old cigar boxes and shipping crates were often used to create this interesting and decorative folk art form , and by tradition the whittled wooden pieces were formed into geometric shapes with the outside edges of each layer notch carved. The Mirrors were made later than the frames and primary photo shows a slightly distorted view of other items of stock in my shop because the mirror glasses are deliberately rippled.. Other photos show a small amount of 'spotting' around the edges of the mirrors. Circa 1880-1910 . In good order with various small imperfections on the frames. Measuring 30 inches tall x 32 wide

Dating between 1880-1910, each mirror measures 30 inches tall x 25 wide.
