Rare French Carousel Piglet with makers' plaque

Rare French Carousel Piglet with its original metal maker's plaque 'BAYOL Fabricant ANGERS'- (shown hanging by chain from my ceiling)

The carved wooden antique pig, 'Claudine' is in recent yellow fairground paint, but with original brass handle , metal snaffle bit and curly iron tail.

Bayol was the most celebrated of the French carousel makers, and his factory in Angers in Western France was in operation from 1885 to 1909, after which it was taken over by his foremen Coquereau & Maréchal.

Measures 31 inches long x 16 high. In very good condition with various small imperfections and wear from age and usage. From Angers, France circa 1890-1905. The Piglet is one of a pair- the second (in pink paint) is hanging in my kitchen - photos can be sent on application.
