Italian Sofa by Tobia & Afra Scarpa for Maxalto

ANTIQUE MODERN MIX
This is a fabulous Italian Artona Sofa by Tobia & Afra Scarpa for Maxalto, 1970s. This beautiful sofa is characterised by Rosewood frame & pinstripe inlays, the cushions are removable and made of chocolate brown mohair velvet with beige stripes. Very stylish and well made sofa, we also have a pair of matching armchairs available in a separate listing.

About the designers:With Chic, Distinctive and cool designs, husband and wife team Tobia and Afra Scarpa both graduated from the Venice Institute of Architecture in 1969 with the former winning a Compasso d’Oro prize the following year for the Soriana Armchair for Cassina. Other notable projects include the iconic 1960 Bastiano collection for Gavina, later reissued by Knoll; the 1966 Coronado Armchair series for B&B Italia, a collection of polyurethane-padded furniture created using the then-new, cold-molded foaming process; and the 1973 Papillion Lamp for Flos, one of the first lighting designs to use halogen technology.
