Spelter figure of Diana de Gabies

ANTIQUES AND DECORATIVE
Late 19th century spelter figure of Diana de Gabies, believed to represent the goddess Artemis, of hunting and the wild. A very popular statue in this period, it became a staple of souvenirs collected on the Grand Tours of Europe. This small figure is in very good condition, and the detail is crisp and clear.

The original of this statue was discovered in Rome in 1792 and was later sold to Napoleon where it was exhibited at the Louvre from 1820. Spelter has been used from around 1860.

This item can be posted using an affordable service such as My Hermes as it not so delicate or large that it cannot be wrapped securely and safely. Delivery and packing is additional as it will still require a good deal of protection when boxed to avoid any chance of damage, but such cost is kept to a minimum and recycled materials are used where appropriate and available. If you would like a delivery quote, please provide your postcode. Items can also be collected from West Sussex by prior arrangement.
