Charles Lebon, The Mill

BRAVE FINE ART
A fine 20th-century oil on canvas depicting a landscape with a mill by Belgian painter, Charles Lebon (1906-1957).

Often the success of a good landscape painting depends on whether it draws you into the scene. With this piece by Lebon, I can almost hear the water running as it cascades into the pond. The sound of the working mill gently rumbles away against the backdrop of beautiful rural scenery.

Lebon was self-taught but achieved a great deal during his short career. His work was exhibited at some prestigious venues including at the Brussels Salon, the Antwerp Salon and the Salon de la Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

The painting is signed in the lower left and housed within an appropriate gilded frame.
