19th.c. Toleware Coal Box with Dog Painting.

Charming mid 19th.c. toleware coal box c.1860. Intended for coal but ideal as a container to hold kindling, fire lighters etc for a log burner. Unusual moulded tear drop shaped box in tin with original black finish and gold detail. Hinged lid with a superb hand painted panel of a dog sat in a Highland landscape with his master’s hat and tartan shawl. White porcelain handle and castors. Sold together with the original shovel, with matching handles and galvanized liner. Damage to the liner otherwise good original condition with only minor wear to the paintwork.

Owner Nicky Collinge runs Collinge Antiques, has been dealing in antiques for over 30 years.

They are based in a large warehouse showroom in Llandudno Junction, North Wales, where they have an extensive and ever changing stock of genuine antiques.

As well as furniture from Georgian to Edwardian periods, and a special interest in Welsh pieces, they regularly deal in clocks, barometers, glass, silver, mirrors, militaria, paintings, bronzes, porcelain and have even sold vintage motorbikes and tractors!
