Gustavian Desk in Original Paint Now On Sale

GEORGIA LACEY ANTIQUES
A wonderful late 18th century Gustavian period desk or side table, richly carved on all four sides with a beautiful curved shaped apron, and meticulously dry scraped back to its original colour. The central drawer retains its original wooden knob and the table has an exquisite, rich patina. The table is from the village of Edsbyn in the North of Sweden. Historically these tables were referred to as 'hat tables' as they were often placed directly inside the front door where the gentleman of the house would place his hat on returning home. Swedish circa 1790.
