I focus chiefly on Modern British paintings, drawings and original prints from the 1890s to the 1950s by well recorded artists. This has been my area of personal collecting interest since the late 1960s and now that collecting has extended to dealing, I tend to offer only those things I enjoy myself and in which I have confidence about the quality of the work, condition and value for money. The majority of the stock is figurative, although I do have a keen interest too in 1950s and 1960s abstraction, and thus the inventory will be varied. At times there will be work by good European, American and Australian artists of the early to mid 20th century. I do not deal in contemporary art.
There are several hundred works in stock at any one time, a good number of which will be shown here on the Decorative Collective. The stock changes regularly and I aim to keep this site up-to-date. Sometimes I will bring out something I have had in my private collection for decades. I am really a collector at heart who has accumulated far too many pictures over more then fifty years.
I can also be found on www.artuk.org (the Art Detective section), where I contribute especially to discussions about artworks held in public collections in South East England, East of England and the Midlands. I am also working with Art UK on a number of curations to help the public navigate the site to best advantage given any particular interests they may have. Art UK is well worth a visit.
My elder son Nick Waters deals in Modern British art as well. He is also on the Decorative Collective under Nick Waters Art and on the DC's sister website, Hoarde Vintage under the business name RetroSixty. He deals in Post War art but sometimes has 21st Century artists in stock, such as Sir Peter Blake and Joe Tilson.
The prices shown for my stock on Decorative Collective include shipping to the Great Britain mainland. Shipping is available elsewhere, but do please ask me for a quote. I try to keep the costs as low as possible without compromising the quality and speed of the shipping process. Overseas clients may also have to pay import taxes / Value Added Tax or similar in their own country. Every sold item is accompanied by a detailed receipt, including the name of the artist where known, and all such items identified specifically are guaranteed as being authentic.

The DC Ltd is not responsible for the description, condition or attribution of an item as we do not have sight of any item and do not have physical ownership of any item, but we do endeavour to only allow professional and experienced dealers onto our website. We do not collect payment or hold such unless specifically agreed prior to purchase and then only as Agent do we hold funds, which are held by the DC Ltd until both parties have confirmed such can be released. If such funds are held and an item is returned, release back to the client of such funds, will be subject to the Seller confirming the item has been returned according to their returns policy. You have the right to return items purchased via the internet up to 14 days following receipt of the item to the specified delivery address. If you collect an item in person or arrange your own delivery, then this term starts immediataely you or your carrier collects the item (this is to avoid your own carrier sitting on the item for a long time before delivering it).
WHAT WE RECOMMEND:
Always ask for an invoice from the Seller. On the invoice you should have the date of the item, any provence, full description, including any restoration or damage. It should state terms of payment and delivery and returns. It should also show the business name, business address, contact numbers, email address and VAT number if applicable.
You should ask for confirmation of your purchase by email so that you have written proof of the agreed price, any additional charges, eg delivery and if you are having the item delivered, ask how and who will be undertaking it and what the Sellers return policy is.
Ask for email confirmation of what your responsibilities are should you wish to return an item, including re-packing, how you must confirm your desire to return the item, eg email or by telephone and be clear on the Seller's return policy.
The prices indicated for items on this site are correct at the time the item is listed, barring any error by the Seller. However, the Euro and Dollar prices shown are for indication only and may vary as rates fluctuate and you may incur your own bank charges when making payment from abroad.
Some of our Dealers (Sellers) are based in Europe so you may need to qualify with them their specific purchase and returns policies. However Distance Selling Regulations apply througout Europe as far as the DC Ltd is aware.
