19th Century French Louis XVI Revival Painted Sofa

HAND OF GLORY
A good quality, 19th century French Louis XVI revival canapé, the painted channel-moulded frame with gilt tied-bow cresting to the oval back over a pair of shaped arms, the upholstered seat raised on four flowerhead-capped tapering supports and with carved bow detail to the seat rail.

Traditionally upholstered and in good condition, the frame is sturdy with no loose joints and only needs new top covers. I can arrange re-covering and supply fabric - please contact me for further details.

With a lifelong passion for the subject, Lisa has worked in the word of art and antiques for over 25 years.  Sixteen of these were spent as a Director of an Auctioneers in London before moving to South West France with her husband Marc Allum to restore a rambling 17th Century Chateau, which they used as base to host art and antique holidays. 
 
After returning to the UK in 2012, Hand of Glory was born, offering an eclectic mix of antiques, objects and.... in the words of John Tradescant; 'anything strang (sic)'
 
In addition to running Hand of Glory, Lisa also writes for various magazines.
 
Clients are welcome to view pieces at the shop opened in November 2019 at 34 Market Place, Chippenham, Wiltshire SN15 3HP. Opening hours are Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm. Other times by appointment.
