Aesthetic Movement Ebonised & Thuya Wood Cabinet

A good quality ebonised mahogany and thuya wood Aesthetic Movement cabinet by Hewetson & Thexton of Tottenham Court Road, London, circa 1880. The galleried back inset with mirrored panels, the base with a frieze drawer over a panelled door with central hand painted enamel panel of a Classical maiden playing a lyre, with a mahogany lined shelved interior, and galleried lower shelf.

Bearing an ivorine manufacturers/retailers label.

With a lifelong passion for the subject, Lisa has worked in the word of art and antiques for over 25 years.  Sixteen of these were spent as a Director of an Auctioneers in London before moving to South West France with her husband Marc Allum to restore a rambling 17th Century Chateau, which they used as base to host art and antique holidays. 
After returning to the UK in 2012, Hand of Glory was born, offering an eclectic mix of antiques, objects and.... in the words of John Tradescant; 'anything strang (sic)'
In addition to running Hand of Glory, Lisa also writes for various magazines.
Clients are welcome to view pieces at the shop opened in November 2019 at 34 Market Place, Chippenham, Wiltshire SN15 3HP. Opening hours are Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm. Other times by appointment.
