Charles Sauvage Lemire Gilt Bronze Cupid Lamp

After Charles Gabriel Sauvage Lemire (1748 - 1829), A 19th century French ormolu bronze of Cupid with a bowl raised to his lips, seated on rock-work with bow, quiver and arrows at his side, raised on an ormolu mounted marble base adapted as a table lamp, with silk shade.

In excellent condition, the lamp fitting could be de-detached if preferred.

The bronze and base 36cm high, 64cm including shade.

With a lifelong passion for the subject, Lisa has worked in the word of art and antiques for over 25 years.  Sixteen of these were spent as a Director of an Auctioneers in London before moving to South West France with her husband Marc Allum to restore a rambling 17th Century Chateau, which they used as base to host art and antique holidays. 
After returning to the UK in 2012, Hand of Glory was born, offering an eclectic mix of antiques, objects and.... in the words of John Tradescant; 'anything strang (sic)'
In addition to running Hand of Glory, Lisa also writes for various magazines.
Clients are welcome to view pieces at the shop opened in November 2019 at 34 Market Place, Chippenham, Wiltshire SN15 3HP. Opening hours are Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm. Other times by appointment.
