Antique French 17th Century Maritime Strong Box

HUTTON-CLARKE ANTIQUES
A rare and unusual 17th-century French strong box made from solid pine. Used as a treasure chest for valuables on ships. Decorated in original ironwork with the original lock. Three hasps and two carrying handles. Half the top folds over to allow access to the interior with an additional candle box. There are some patches from years of use, however, this only adds to the interesting rustic look. Very few pieces of pine furniture survive from this period!
A real statement piece in a house or ideal as a film prop!
