pair of butterfly chairs in original paint

INGLIS HALL ANTIQUES
The first butterfly chair was designed in 1938 in Buenos Aires by three architects named Bonet, Kurchan and Ferrari. They only made three original examples of the chair, and the design went into general production in 1947.

This pair are of french manufacture C1950, and have the original white paint with traces of red undercoat. The leather has been renewed and looks original.
A classic mid century chair with a great economy of design, and wonderful simple lines for indoors or outdoors use.

Period:

1950s
