Hector Guimard "Chalmont" planter c1890

INGLIS HALL ANTIQUES
A French Art Nouveau luster glazed ceramic planter known as “Chalmont” by Hector Guimard, Circa 1890's, some rubbing to the glaze on the belly of the pot, but otherwise in good condition. Hector Guimard (10 March 1867 – 20 May 1942) was a French architect, who is now the best-known representative of the Art Nouveau style of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Guimard's critical reputation has risen since the 1960s, as many art historians have praised his architectural and decorative work, the best of it done during a relatively brief fifteen years of prolific creative activity.

A similar planter is featured in: Philippe Guimard Thiébaut edition of the Réunion des Musées Nationaux, Paris, 1992. Model reproduced on pages 258 and 262.

  • H: 21cm (8.27in)
