Louise Dear - Little Islands Too

KIKI DESIGN
An early piece by contemporary artist Louise Dear. Titled "Little Islands Too" signed and dated on reverse, June 2002.

Louise works on large sheets of prefabricated aluminium, priming the surface then throwing, rubbing, pouring and dripping inks and dyes, glitter and glosses, to form a background - this is then sanded, scratched and distressed, depending on what image will be overlaid.

Louise’s subjects exist on many levels, portraying innocence yet also the lack of it - the children are storybook beautiful, their unique spirit captured and immortalised in that perfect state.

Sarah Roelich founded Kiki Design in 1998.   She has a well-established knowledge of antiques and modern design having worked for Christie’s Fine Art Auctioneers and with various interior design companies.  In Kiki Design she used her diverse experience to create a company with an eclectic look that embraced design from all periods.

Jon Fairweather joined Kiki Design in 2010 bringing with him a wealth of experience from a specialist twentieth century retailer and an eye for the visual from his time spent working in film and television.

Together Sarah and Jon have expanded Kiki Design - opening a shop in Petworth and extending their range of furniture, art and design. Where necessary pieces are sympathetically restored and finished to a fine standard.  Kiki Design has developed a look that encompasses all styles from antique to 20th century. Sarah and Jon passionately believe that a harmonious and timeless interior is achieved by selecting vintage and antique pieces to complement each other.
