Japanese Meiji Embroidered Lions Wall Hanging

A Large Meiji Embroidered Wall Hanging Of A Lion & Lioness. Meiji Era 1868-1912, Late 19Th/Early 20Th Century. Woven In Different Shades Of Silk And Cotton Threads With Two Lions On The Bank Of A Winding Stream, Surrounded By Tall Trees And Shrubs In Tonal Shades. Signed At Lower Right With A Circular Seal. We Have Had The Piece Framed In A Wooden Border Frame, Painted In Farrow And Ball 'Stoney Ground' The Piece Is Purely Stretched Over A Board And Trapped Behind The Frame Carefully, Completely Removable Without Issue If Needed.. The Piece Has Its Original Border Fabric Visible At The Back Of The Stretcher, This Border Is In Poor Condition But The Main Embroidery Is Strong And Good Condition. 155cm Width, 92cm Height, 3cm Depth. The Hanging Has Been Stretched Onto The Frame And Could Be Removed If Required For A Different Hanging Treatment, Thus Why We Felt It Correct To Leave The Original Border Intact.All Our Items Are Genuine Antique/Vintage Pieces And Therefore Can Have Some Signs Of Age Related Use Or Wear, This Adds To The Character And Uniqueness Of Each Of Them.We Try To Give Accurate Measurements Wherever Possible, However Where Items Are Unusual Shapes Pls Trust Our Approx Dimensions To Be As Close As Possible.
