Antique Cash Register or Till

By National Cash Register Co., USA.
The body of the till is brass and nickel plated decorated with elaborate foliate design to the back and sides, the shelf above the drawer is marble, there are 27 keys in two rows, the prices in pounds, shilling and pence pop up under the glass screen when you press the keys and the drawer pops out when you press the sale key, a flap above the keys opens to reveal counters and a key lock. Serial Number: 142646 dates this machine to 1898.

The machine was made for the UK market with pounds, shilling and pence flags, but it has been modified after the introduction of decimal currency hence each flag has two values. This is in good condition, the keys have a little corrosion to the edges. It is reassuringly heavy.
