A good 19th century early Victorian shaped rosewood country house ottoman.
English, Circa 1840.
Well proportioned and of sarcophagus form, having been recently upholstered in a fine quality linen whilst retaining its original horsehair upholstery. Individually brass nailed tacked to the base and shallowed buttoned to the top, which lifts to reveal a newly lined storage compartment.
A rosewood moulding surrounds the perimeter of the base which raised on stylised rosewood feet retained their original recessed hidden castors.
In excellent condition it is worth noting that particularly good timber has been used and the unusually large over-stuffed upholstered top, giving a very pleasant design.
