one side in boxwood, the other side in ebony, kings with ‘urn shaped’ tops, queens with large ball finials, bishops as mitres, knights as horses’ heads, rooks as turrets with battlements, pawns with ball finials.
King: 7.5cm high, base 2.7cm diameter.
Pawn: 3.9cm high, base 1.3cm diameter.
Box: 16cm wide, 12cm deep, 7.4cm high.
