19th Century Westmoreland Antique Pine Cupboard

MILES GRIFFITHS ANTIQUES
19th Century Westmoreland Antique Pine Cupboard

This unusual antique pine cupboard is made in two parts, the lower section having two large storage drawers with the original tunred handles and squat bun feet.

The upper section has two long cupboard doors with three large, bow fronted drawers to the centre, most probably for top hats.

To top off this lovely antique pine cupboard is a stepped deep, moulded cornice. The two cupboard have hooks for hanging, but could easily be fitted with shelves.

This antique pine cupboard was made in Kirkby Stephen, North Yorkshire by the cabinet maker, Thomas Punch. The bottom of the drawers are signed with the information.

All in very good, solid, clean and correct condition. Perfect to use in a hallway for storing coats and stuff or as a wardobe in a bedroom.

Miles was born in 1970 and raised in a country house in Lancashire. Here, his parents’ eclectic interiors (his mum once famously painted the loo seat purple!) undoubtedly stoked his interest in antiques and design.

Trained yet bored by his textile design degree, Miles moved on and with his mum, established a local retail emporium. He supplied antique props for the shop floor, which gained interest and attention from members of the public.

This was the beginning of Miles Griffiths Antiques.

Opening his first antiques shop, Miles quickly gained a local fan club, he’d often return with his wares to find queues waiting for their next antiques fix. Later, having outgrown the shop, Miles dealt primarily with the antiques trade at fairs. This meant very early morning starts and he was soon travelling all over the country.

He established a following on the circuit as a reputable dealer with a superb eye for the decorative and unexpected.
