Filippo Avalle was born of a Swiss mother and an Italian father in Chêne-Bougeries (Geneva) on 13th October 1947. This was about one year after the publication of Manifiesto Blanco by Lucio Fontana - an ideal master, a reference point for what Avalle was to sense as an artistic legacy to be developed.
The discovery of plexiglas (methacrylate)

In 1969 after their marriage the couple moved to a studio-home in Lungo Po Cadorna 5, where Avalle organized individual and collective exhibitions.
The following year the artist had the opportunity to work for a brief period at Centro Polimero Arte di Castiglione Olona, where he experimented with the use of methacrylate (plexiglas) - destined to become the favourite material in his artistic works.

Almost forty years later it was precisely in Castiglione Olona (near Varese, in Lombardy), in MAP (Museo di Arte Plastica), and in the Castle of Monteruzzo where a retrospective was to be organized; the exhibition curator was Federica Armiraglio. If Avalle had already embraced the direction of a further dimension of space in Fontana’s canvas cuttings, now he was equipped to concretely follow the bearings of a personal artistic course “beyond Fontana”.
Methacrylate, a plastic material boasting properties both transparent and opaque, conceals and reveals a space reaching beyond the canvas.

Always a collector, Angelo Moioli decided to turn his passion into a job in the early 2000's and opened his first gallery in Milan. The gallery immediately became a must for lovers of the designs of the 90's.

Tireless in 2013, Angelo decided to open a new gallery in London, this is now closed and visits to view item is by appointment only please.  Our items consist of purely decorative objects, works of art and designer collectibles of the past that testify to the historical period from the post war to the end of last century.  Here, every item is important for its history and charm.  It also reflects Angelo's passion for collecting hand-painted ceramics, paintings, sculptures, lighting Venini, Fontana Arte, fabrics and art glass alongside original pieces and out of production.

You will also find furniture by Ponti, Albini, Mangiarotti, Magistretti, Sottsass and many other unknown masters.
