Wide antique etched gilt archtop mirror

ON REFLECTION MIRRORS
French Louis Philippe period (1830-48) archtop mirror with wide, etched gilt frame decorated with flower and leaf design. The gold leaf has thinned just enough to set off the design where the gilding is burnished within the decoration and left matt around the outside, which enhances the pattern. The original mercury glass has just a little, light age and sparkles when it catches the light. This mirror would make a very handsome overmantel.

  • H: 121cm (47.64in)
