Item Description

An attractive 17th century antique oak wainscot chair. The antique oak wainscot chair has an impressive back rest with decorative carved detailing throughout, with ‘FIDELIS’ (Latin for faithful) etched to the top and the initials ‘M R’ and date ‘1669’ etched to the bottom. The antique oak wainscot chair has shaped open arms with a solid seat, raised on square cut legs, with straight stretcher supports. The 17th century wainscot chair has wonderful carvings throughout.
Item Ref; M-S003
Height – 127.5cm / Width – 58.5cm / Depth – 55cm / Seat Height - 46.5cm
In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks, scratches, fading and a shrinkage split to the seat (pictured), further marks and scratches to the base. There is also a patch repair to the backrest (pictured) and evidence of historic woodworm. The historic woodworm is now long gone and has been fully treated as a precaution. The antique oak wainscot chair remains structurally solid and sound. Overall, a good example of a 17th century armchair.
