Item Description
Antique Edwardian original oil on panel paintings depicting eggs on a kitchen table.
Painted by George Frederick Harris (1856-1924), he lived most of his life in Merthyr Tydfil in the Welsh valleys before emigrating to Australia in 1920 where he died in 1924. He was a landscape, portrait and still life artist and has forty-five works in public collections across the UK.
Both these works are signed ‘G.F. Harris’ and dated ‘1907’ and ‘1917’ meaning they were both painted whilst he was still in Wales.
Framed in their original deep set gilt frames.
The paintings themselves are in very good condition; they are free from any significant damage. There seems to be some craquelure to the surface but only enough to add charm and certainly nothing to worry about. The frames have some wear but again nothing serious enough to detract from the paintings.
Each one measures: 33cm x 29cm x 7cm overall in their frames.
