Item Description

Original Mid Century Lucite, Chrome and Glass Table

A thick rectangular glass top sits above two base supports made out of different levels of post. Each one has four supporting chrome posts and the rest are made out of lucite which act as prisms in the light.

Designed by notorious American artist and furniture designer Charles Hollis Jones.

Originally commissioned by actress Loretta Young this range was first manufactured by Hudson Risman. Hollis Jones later started manufacturing this range himself which he named ‘Post’ and later became known as ‘Skyscraper’ for obvious reasons.

This is a rare larger dining table from the range which has the two base supports instead of the one circular version. It may even be a bespoke version.

It could easily and comfortably sit eight and more at a push for celebrations if you don’t mind being a bit cosier.

Overall it is in good vintage condition, the glass top is free from any chips or cracks and only has some surface wear and tear as you would expect. The bases are also in good nick, the lucite sections are free from chips or cracks. The chrome posts are in good order. The only thing I would point out is the chrome baseplates do have some wear and tear but nothing too serious. These could be easily re-chromed if desired but we have left them in completely original condition.

Measuring 245cm long x 85cm deep x 75cm high.
