Antique Sterling Silver Teapot Paul Storr 1809

A George III sterling silver teapot by Paul Storr, one of the world’s most celebrated silversmiths. The elegant body of the pot features a gadroon rim and embossed fluting, and is graced with a flush hinged dome cover, a sign of exceptional craftsmanship.
This charming antique silver teapot has a swan-neck spout and carved wood handle, beautifully crafted in the shape of a serpent – a signifier of Storr’s best work – with dual fish motifs near the upper socket and fish tails adjoining the lower socket. A circular flared foot completes this exquisite antique Paul Storr piece.

This highly desirable silver teapot has the hallmarks for London 1809 and the maker’s mark of Paul Storr (‘PS’). This antique sterling silver teapot is an excellent example of the artistry of Paul Storr, made during the reign of King George III (1738–1820). In extremely good condition, the hallmarks are clear and there are no signs of repair, nor any dings or dents to the silverwork, as the photographs show. This antique teapot is a wonderful example of the mastery of Paul Storr, and will have great appeal to collectors.

More About Paul Storr
Paul Storr (1770–1844) was one of the most acclaimed silversmiths of his time. When this beautiful George III silver antique teapot was produced in 1809, Storr was working in partnership with Rundell, Bridge & Rundell in the City of London. The company held the Royal Warrant from 1797–1843 and supplied many fine pieces to royalty, and the Prince Regent in particular. During this period Storr’s reputation soared and his work was highly sought after. Many pieces of Storr silverware are found in private collections, royal palaces, and museums across the world.
