Item Details

A beautiful, and very old example, this is the only cutlers stool we have ever seen made from Oak, being traditionally made from Ash and Elm.

These stools are completely unique to Sheffield UK (World famous for it's cutlery and steel). They were made in-house at cutlery factories across the city to this simple design from the late eighteenth century.

The patina, formed over a couple of hundred years of use is wonderful, see photos for detail. This one had loose legs when we found it due to wood shrinkage, so there is restoration evident to the top where new Elm splices have been used to secure the legs.

45cm high x 38cm x 23cm (width and depth across the seat)
