Antique Gabbeh Rug 2.37m x 1.44m

An exceptional antique Gabbeh rug, handwoven by the nomadic Qashqai tribe circa 1900 with a geometrical design on madder red field and great secondary colours, particularly the saffron yellow. Note the interesting stylised dog in the field (I had no idea that Dachshunds were popular in turn of the century Persia!). A fantastic example of tribal art.

Size: 2.37m x 1.44m (7ft 9in x 4ft 9in)

This rug is in good condition with light even wear, slightly heavier in a few small places (see photos). Fringes and selvedges are secure and it has been professionally cleaned.
