Carlo Bugatti (1856 - 1940)
Carlo Bugatti, born in Milan in 1856, is best known for his strikingly original and immediately recognisable furniture as well as his interior design. His architectural creations which hint at Moorish and Japanese influences, make use of a multitude of techniques and original materials such as the use of ebonised wood inlaid with metal and bone, hammered copper and pewter decorative reliefs.
Bugatti came from an artistic family, his father was an architect and sculptor, one of his brothers too became a sculptor, the other Ettore, of course became a car designer.
