Item Description

This is a very nice quality 19th century tapestry panel in 15th century style. The colours and the details are superb and it is hugely decorative. This is a machine made copy of the original Medieval Shepherd tapestry by the workshop of Van Oelst in Brussels. It came from a large property in Scotland and overall condition is very good. It has a seam that runs the full width of the lower third which has given me some questions as to what it maybe and its hard to say but there is a slight difference to the weave of the lower third making me think there is a chance this maybe older than the top section. The bottom third also has a velum label on the reverse. Unfortunately worn away with age but could explain the significance of the seam. Either way a very interesting piece, thats well made and a great piece of decorative wall art as well. The very top has 10 twisted metal bars where you can hang the tapestry from.
Length 240cm By Height 188cm
