Howard and sons Castellane sofa

(On my website) If you would like this sofa upholstered please click yes in the upholstery drop down menu. This would require 12 metres of material. You can supply your own or please browse our collections under the material section.

All my armchairs and sofas have been fully restored, springs, legs, padding etc so these will stand the test of time even if used everyday.

This is a very rare antique 19th century Howard and sons sofa. The model is known as a 'Castellane' but this could well be a one off. It has subtle differences to the more common 'Castellane' Sofa. This is larger, it has a third front leg and the back has a slightly more curved appearance. I questioned if it was in-fact a castellane when I bought it. But when I removed the old fabric I revealed written on the back cushions 'Spec Castellane' which could be interpreted in a couple of ways. First is the spec is the Catellane model, or As I have taken it, a special order Castellane sofa. Either way this is proof of the model and the clear Howard and sons stamp on the back left leg means this is a real gem. A little rough at the minute admittedly but the frame is strong as are the springs. Included in the price is replacement casters. They most likely wont be stamped Howard and sons but they will be period. As well as this sofa being a rare example and a great investment piece it is extremely comfy making it ideal for everyday use.

My name is Matt Dixon and for as long as I can remember I have had a love for history and design which I find relate very closely.

Since starting up TallBoy Interiors 3 years ago, I have learnt so much about what works together and I find that you can mix modern and classic pieces to create a truly unique design.

I am not afraid to express myself through the items I buy as I believe your home should represent as much about you as the way you dress.  Everyone has their own style and that is what makes this business so interesting.

As trends change, the pieces that appear on the open market change, and that keeps me thinking of how it can work in a design.

I want to provide a service that is totally personal to the client and help them use their imagination to create something unique.
