18th Century Cast Iron Fireback

THE ARCHITECTURAL FORUM
A wonderful original antique fireback dating from the early eighteenth century. This superb Georgian fireback depicts a romantic pastoral scene of a pair of lovers sat under a tree, surrounded by hunting dogs. The fireback has a crack in the centre which has been thoroughly repaired, probably in the mid-nineteenth century with a wrought iron plate riveted to the back. This characterful, large antique fireback will add a distinguished finishing touch to a period fireplace.

The fireback is also pictured with a pair of antique polished andirons and a swans nest basket, sold separately.
