Amazing Venetian Lanterns

THE HOUSE OF ANTIQUES
Amazing Venetian Toleware Lanterns
We are proud to offer a fabulous matched pair of 19th Century Venetians toleware and wrought iron lanterns in original paint. Completely hand-crafted detailing leaf and flower décor, gold gilt frame sections and untouched from its original form. These example still have in place their original wrought iron support brackets and would have been individually attached to a procession pole allowing the lanterns to swing freely in the central section whilst a procession took place, surprisingly this function still works, therefore allowing the lights to sit centrally once the frame has been attached to a wall as shown in the photos provided. The original wrought iron pole support is also still in place, which makes these examples highly unique and very desirable as an interior décor piece of lighting. Recently rewired and ready to be used with a 240v power source. These are the most stunning lights we have had in our store and would look amazing placed either side of a fireplace or hallway entrance.
Size in inches: H 30” x W 22” x D 11”
Origin: Italian
Period: 19th Century
Material: Wrought iron, glass and toleware
Condition: These items are completely solid in structure and form if not abit fragile due to their material. The toleware motifs has a number of old repairs as you would expect these include, the crown of one of the lights is half missing its rear leaf section, a repair has also taken place across this section (its however fortunate this damage is to the rear of the light so not as visible once presented, some of the leaf motifs are also missing across both examples and paint across the toleware is faded, missing or rusty. A few glass plates have been replaced and inside of the lantern is rusty but not missing its firmness or form to support the light bulb fitting. This is an aged item dating well over 100 years so please expect wear and tear. The pictures aim to illustrate these items condition, however we encourage that if you have further question you propose these in advance of a purchase.
