Automaton Camera Man c.1960

Vintage Automaton Advertising Camera Man

This charming fully functional original automation camera man from the 1960s was produced by the famous J H Animations company. This item would have originally been displayed in a photo processing or development store and would have been used to attract customers into the store. It’s very unique in full working order and original clothing (which shows age wear and tear). A wonderful quirky and fascinating object and highly collectable since mass production items have hit the market of recent times.
The camera man is wearing all original clothing, the camera has been added later and is a lightweight black plastic mock up. The characters movement includes his head turning from left to right before lifting his hands to take a photo, thereafter his hands are lowered before repeating this action again. (Consistent movement) power source from mains 240v supply.

Condition:The item does have some wear and tear as expected so viewing all photos provided is key, he is unable to lift the heavy original camera provided so a lighter replacement has been provided for effect. His boots also show age with cracked paint, his cloths are stained and this jacket has become unstitched at the shoulder, personally we think this adds character.

Size: H 32″ x W13″ x D13″

It’s quite simple. We buy what we like. We believe that extraordinary items are owned by extraordinary people who live in extraordinary spaces. We are driven by the passion to unearth and offer the most unusual, decorative and rarest objects.

Our house style is probably best described as artistic, theatrical and, even macabre.

We often get asked by our clients, “Where did you find that?” The answer is always the same. Look hard enough and you will find what you seek.
