English Pharmacy Draws

THE HOUSE OF ANTIQUES
19th Century English Pharmacy Draws
We are proud to offer a highly decorative set of late 19th Century English pharmacy medicine draws. This example shows a characteristic natural paint cracking and patination across all its surface. From the handwritten prescriptions and medical remedies still present on the inside of the draws, to the individually hand made dovetail numbered joints which show a level of crudeness and functional stability. The Mahogany painted pine has aged into a lovely deep maroon hue, etched with a natural paint cracking due to its age and wear. On some of the draws you can still be medical labels of the location from which this great example was obtained which read A. Smart Pharmaceutical Chemist.

Our house style is probably best described as artistic, theatrical and, even macabre.

We often get asked by our clients, “Where did you find that?” The answer is always the same. Look hard enough and you will find what you seek.
