Palanquin Panel c.1880

THE HOUSE OF ANTIQUES
Early 19th Century Palanquin Panel (Rare) Decorative item

The House of Antiques is proud to offer for sale a very rare and decorative Indian Palanquin wooden roof side panel with deity hidden chamber section. This item is in wonderful condition considering its age and use. This panel would have originally been a part of a set with each one being mounted onto the outer palanquin roof for both decorative and functional use. A bronze or gold Hindu deity would have been placed in the hidden chamber to wish the traveller good fortune on their journey. The item is a complete original with all its parts still intact, the cast iron positioning rods are still firmly attached, The wooden chamber is still in its original condition and the hinges and lock section are still true to form. The art work across the surface obviously shows its age with faded paint and lost detail. Never the less the artwork is still very visible and in overall condition. It’s strongly suggested all photos provided are viewed very carefully before a purchase is made and any questions proposed where you unsure of the advertised item. This artefact would make a wonderful decorative display to any hall or door way entrance.

Condition: The item is completely structurally secure, due to its age this item shows wear and tear in the form of lost and faded paint work, rusted metal sections and one of the peacock display is slightly loose but still firmly in place, this does not affect the structure or item in anyway.
