Pytram Advertising Figures

THE HOUSE OF ANTIQUES
Early 20th Century Papier Mache Pytram Ltd English Advertising Figures
We are proud to offer one of the rarest collections of early 20th Century Papier Mache English advertising figures. In the form of Susie and Sammy Sunlea, Made by Pytram Ltd in the 1930s, we believe these figures would have been placed in grocery stores in England to advertise butter/ margarine & dairy products. These rare survivors are in close to mint condition and still have all their original paint, without any loss. These figures are without doubt the rarest examples we have had in stock for a long time, you will not find the like.
Size in inches: H 26” x W 9” x D 9”
Origin: England
Period: Early 20th Century
Material: Papier Mache
Condition: These figures are completely solid in structure and form. Wear and tear present through light fading of paint which is original to both figures. Light wear across the detail of this figures includes their hands, boots, edge of the plinths, a dent to the rear of the Susie’s plinth as shown. For their age and material these examples are best we have seen, and you will not find another pair. Its exceedingly difficult to photograph all the areas in this piece therefore we strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment.

Period:

1930

It’s quite simple. We buy what we like. We believe that extraordinary items are owned by extraordinary people who live in extraordinary spaces. We are driven by the passion to unearth and offer the most unusual, decorative and rarest objects.

Our house style is probably best described as artistic, theatrical and, even macabre.

We often get asked by our clients, “Where did you find that?” The answer is always the same. Look hard enough and you will find what you seek.
