Scratch Built Folk-art Ship c.1920

Circa 1920s Scratch Ship Primitive Folk-art Hand Made Decorative Rare Item

For sale in this LOT is a rare original early 20th Century folk-art primitive hand made one off scratch ship in overall wonderful condition. The ship is completely hand made with some wonderful intricate and to scale detail. All that you see is handmade and item would have originally had a working motor in its hull (Motor is missing in this lot).

Ship details:
1.All 6 hand carved life boats are detachable and the each boat has a brass fitted top rim.
2.The ship comes apart in 3 segments revealing the dulls detail (shown in photo)
3.The ship deck barriers are hand made with wonderful ball finish details.
4.The main ship wheel is movable and controls a mechanism connected to the bottom hull.
5.The lift boats support hinges move inwards and are made from brass.
6.The stairs of the ship main deck are individually section made.
7.The hull section is made in sections and dovetail joint finished in place.

The item shows some light wear and tear, pictures have been provided and the detail of this is outlined in the condition section of this advert so please review. It’s strongly suggested that questions are proposed before a purchase is made to avoid any disappointment. This item is completely authentic and untouched (it’s only been cleans and lightly polished to bring out its detail), structurally in wonderful condition. This type of item hardly come to market in such good overall original condition, a serious addition to any folk-art collector’s catalogue. The ship is currently based on an old wooden grey painted box, this box can be supplied as part of this sale, and however a bespoke 2 claw stand would really set this its true decorative look off if you wish to add this yourself.

Dimensions: L 40” x H 17” x W 13”

Condition:The item is completely solid and structurally sound, light scuffs and chips to wooden surface and paint are present due to the age of this wonderful decorative item (photos provided). There is scratch to the front right of the boat and some paint has been removed as a result (photos provided) This item is aged so please except wear and tear and ask any questions before a purchase to avoid any disappointment.
