19th Century Painted Pine Dresser Base

THE SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL
A striking decorative dresser base, with a wonderful dry painterly surface.

The original paint has age related discolouration, craquelure, the pine caucus has general attractive wear around its extremities, fitting to its age.

The thick planked top has been cleaned and lightly waxed, the original lock on the centre top drawer works and has its key, the two cupboards have locks and keys but not working as they should.

The pressed copper handles and finger plates have age related oxidisation and a decorative organic embossed decoration. One cupboard door has an elderly replacement handle, but has some age and the wear is in keeping with the base.

The piece now acts as a side board and is very much of a useable size for any setting.

Circa 1840 in age, 166cm in length, 63.5cm in depth, 85.5cm in height

Period:

19th Century
