A Pair Of "Cherubs In A Landscape" Drawings

A beautifully executed pair of framed colored drawings by Arthur Howe Holdsworth dated 1806. A nicely detailed pair of cherubs in landscape scenes mounted in circular gilt frames.

Arthur Howe Holdsworth (1780–1860) of Mount Galpin in Devon, was a merchant, inventor, artist and in 1809 was Governor of Dartmouth Castle, a position also held by his father. He was elected member of Parliament for Dartmouth in 1802, holding the seat until December 1819, when he vacated it in favour of Charles Milner Ricketts, a cousin of Lord Liverpool. He returned to the seat in 1829, but was defeated by John Seale in 1832, after the Reform Act partially disenfranchised the constituency.
Holdsworth was from a Devon mercantile and trading family and resided at Widdecombe House and Mount Galpin in Dartmouth located near Kingsbridge within the Stokenham Priory estate, owned by the Holdsworth family for many years.

Hello, my name is Miles and I would like to welcome you to my store Tinker & Toad.

We are a family run business in the heart of the beautiful Sussex countryside. We deal in an eclectic mix of antique and modern furniture, architectural salvage, re-worked industrial lighting, decorative arts and a carefully selected choice of paintings and modern art.

We have a bricks and mortar shop in Heathfield, East Sussex where we always welcome first-time buyers, collectors and interior designers. We have retailed from the shop for 18 years and took over the premises ourselves in 2015 and have seen a gradual increase on returning customers. We pride ourselves on giving a personal, friendly shopping experience and hope you will arrive a stranger, but leave as a friend.

With our love of both antique and modern interiors, we enjoy helping our customers to furnish a space, whether it's a loft apartment, a club, a cottage or a castle. We have supplied many wonderful customers, including Soho House, The Box Club London, Elmore Court Gloucestershire, Bonnington House Scotland and the Ned Hotel London. I am happy to take a phone call seven days a week, 8am to 8pm or feel free to pop me over an email. We look forward to hearing from you.

Warmest regards, Miles.
