Bird Engraving Print George Edwards

TRINITY ANTIQUES
This is a stunning Georgian engraving of a small 'Chatterer' bird of the Florida, Carolina and Bahamas region. It has SUCH appeal with its ancient paper, blue convolvulus flowers and faded grandeur frame. The engraving was produced by George Edwards (b 3 April 1694 – d 23 July 1773) who was an prominent English naturalist and ornithologist, known as the "father of British ornithology". The engraving is on quality chain linked paper and has been hand coloured by Edwards himself. The engraving is a plate from the sought after book A Natural History of Uncommon Birds (1743-1751) and Gleaning of Natural History (1758-1764) by George Edwards. The engraving is housed behind old bubbled glass in an attractively weathered early 19th century frame.

Measuring: Frame width 10 inch (25.5 cm) by height 12.25 inch (31 cm). Aperture width 8 inch (20.5 cm) by height 10.25 inch (26 cm).

Condition: Some minor darkening to the paper. Light surface wear to frame commensurate with age.

This is a quality item by a sought after artist. The engraving will display excellently and is perfect for any who desires an antique artwork with the country house look...see last image taken on our gallery wall in natural daylight.
