This is a wonderful leather example of Bunyan’s Choice Works that include The Pilgrim's Progress, The Holy War, The Barren Fig-Tree, Grace Abounding To The Chief Of Sinners, And Heart's Ease In Heart Trouble . John Bunyan (1628-1688) was a 17th century English Baptist preacher and author of religious texts/ expanded sermons.

The book was printed by Dunn and Wright in Glasgow for the well-known bible publisher James Semple. A scarce edition, this wonderful book was specifically made for or retailed by A. Hutcheson of 14 Pritchard Street, St Pauls, Bristol, England. This rugged book is a high quality and decorative binding, the fore edge, top and bottom edge are all gilt decorated. There are 900 pages in total and this includes many vibrant full size color plates as well as the smaller black and white engravings. This book is in very good condition for its age. The book is tightly bound with five raised bands to the spine; the color plates are in very good condition. The pages are in very good condition. This is an attractive binding; the dark leather and rich gold decoration give a real feeling of quality.

Dimensions - Length 12 ½ Inches, Width 10 Inches and Depth – 2 ½ Inches. Weighing 9.8 lbs!!!

Condition: The text is foxed in some places as to be expected with a book of this age. There is some minor 1 inch size chipping to pages 843 – 856. The corners are slightly bent on pages 117 – 153. Previous owner’s inscription on the front free end paper from 1902. The covers and spine are in very good condition with minor surface wear.
