Huntley And Palmers Book Biscuit Tin Walter Scott

This decorative biscuit tin was produced for Huntley and Palmers in England during circa 1905. This is one of the most sought after types of biscuit tin; the tin is modelled as a collection of leather bound classical books with gilt tooled covers and spines. We love the gilt end papers and the bottom end papers which are all still wonderfully bright.

Huntley & Palmers produced their first book tin, 'Library', in 1900. This was followed in 1901 with 'Literature' and this tin was the third in the series simulating bound books.

This book stack tin features some of the most well-known works of Sir Walter Scott. Sir Walter Scott, 1st Baronet FRSE FSA Scot (15 August 1771 – 21 September 1832) was a Scottish historical novelist, poet, playwright and historian. Many of his works remain classics of both English-language literature and of Scottish literature.

The titles in the collection include Waverly, Guy Mannering, Rob Roy, Heart of Midlothian, Ivanhoe, The Abbot, Kenilworth, Woodstock.

The tin opens via the hinged lid, once opened the underside of the lid revels the manufactures details reading ‘Huntley & Palmers, Biscuits, Reading London’.
