Arts and Crafts Wall Cabinet Cupboard Circa 1910

This quirky, decorative wall cabinet was handmade during the 1890 to 1910 era. This cabinet has the flexibility of being free standing with its four feet or wall hanging with its metal suspension brackets. It has a wonderful naive charm, and is strong and substantial being hand made from good oak. We feel this was most likely made a good amateur as perhaps a pipe or smoker's cabinet for storing humidor, pipes and tobacco. However, we now see it as a handy storage cupboard for just about anything. It is easy to envisage it as a decorative country house hall cupboard for storing your dog's essentials; lead, collar, etc......

The centerpiece displays an arts and crafts style copper plaque featuring a charming repoussé work portrait of an English bull dog. The copper plaque is signed by the artist ‘Regina H??? to the bottom left corner. We are not sure if the copper plaque is original to this Edwardian cabinet but it certainly works. The cabinet lock is full working and complete with its key, the interior of the cabinet features two pull out drawers and a shelf.

Measuring: Height 50.5 cm (19.75 inch) by width 29.5 cm (11.5 inch). Depth 16.5 cm (6.5 inch).

Condition: This rustic cabinet has a few minor repairs. The central finial is a replacement; there are a few old red paint marks to the interior and some minor dark staining to the wood. There is an old water stain to the face of one of the drawers. A strip of beading missing to the reverse of the back panel.
