18th Century Venetian Mirrors

Vagabond Antiques presents a pair of 18th Century Venetian etched glass mirrors. A stunning pair of original Venetian mirrors, each of tapering form and etched with a floral border. One plate shows a male warrior holding a dragon with a Lion at his feet, the other a female warrior holding aloft a chalice with sword at her side. The fashion for decorative mirrors in Venice in the 18th Century was at its peak, and as such a demand for more elaborate designs upon the glass grew, not only were mirrors being used to look at your reflection but to reflect light and to make a statement of wealth and prosperity. They give a subtle reflection and leave the looker curious as to the figures and etchings on the glass, enticing you to look closer. Italy, Venice, Circa 1760

Vagabond Antiques was founded by Joe Chaffer in 2015.  From an early age Joe was surrounded by his mothers love for all things antique, with her being an antiques dealer for 30 years, Joe certainly has antique dealing in his blood.

After a 15 year career in London with various Men's fashion brands and after taking the lead on multiple projects which incorporated using antique items to create bespoke shop-fit's for menswear concessions, Joe really got the taste for using decorative antiques to create unique interiors.

Joe's focus is now solely on finding beautiful and intriguing items for the home and garden.

Vagabond opened it's first shop in July 2017 in Fittleworth Village, West Sussex, just a 5 minute drive from the well established 'antique' market town of Petworth and close to the historic town of Arundel.

Vagabond Antiques is open 7 days a week from 10am to 5pm and other times by appointment.
