A Boy & His Dog

VAGABOND
An 18th Century portrait painting of a boy and his dog. England, Circa 1770. The rough waves in the background, the boys naval dress and the longing look of his dog suggest he’s a young sailor heading off to sea and saying farewell to his faithful friend, with a pensive look on his face the artist has really captured the moment, very much in the manner of English artist William Williams (1727-1791) “

Vagabond Antiques was founded by Joe Chaffer in 2015.  From an early age Joe was surrounded by his mothers love for all things antique, with her being an antiques dealer for 30 years, Joe certainly has antique dealing in his blood.

After a 15 year career in London with various Men's fashion brands and after taking the lead on multiple projects which incorporated using antique items to create bespoke shop-fit's for menswear concessions, Joe really got the taste for using decorative antiques to create unique interiors.

Joe's focus is now solely on finding beautiful and intriguing items for the home and garden.

Vagabond opened it's first shop in July 2017 in Fittleworth Village, West Sussex, just a 5 minute drive from the well established 'antique' market town of Petworth and close to the historic town of Arundel.

Vagabond Antiques is open 7 days a week from 10am to 5pm and other times by appointment.
